Foxes have lived on wasteland behind our house for the 40 years we've been here and my neighbour [about to emigrate to NZ] has been bonfiring house waste for a week during the recent sub-zero temperatures. This morning, with the thaw in full swing, the foxes have been warming themselves on the warm ashes as pic shows

A nice capture.
I've seen domestic cats doing the same thing: indeed, I once saw one walking off with its fur smouldering: hope that didn't happen to the foxes tails!  |

I regularly find them sitting on compost heaps where the decomposition provides them with warmth as well as tasty snacks! |
