| | | Releasing Mice I have caught a mouse (think its a house mouse but not 100%) in a live trap - but with the weather as it is I was wondering if releasing him/her is the most humane thing to do? Dont they need to dig small tunnells etc to live in??? There ground is obviously frozen - if you could find it under 8 inches of snow....

| | | Re: Releasing Mice My guess would be wood mouse which come into house when weather is cold for prolonged period. Mice don't burrow so I would find somewhere sheltered like an old shed, old derelict building and release it there.

Also Wood mice actively burrow and live in burrows, house mice tend not to burrow. Sorry not picking you post apart Lance .
Regarding the mouse I would release it in a sheltered area perhaps brown field site? urban wasteland would be better than farmland or as lance says urban, suburban buildings, or possibly woodland as this habitat will have alot of food now. They are quite capable of surviving the cold and quickly find food and shelter. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
