| | | Re: Fox with bald patches Jennie, she's absolutely fine on the other side. She did have a quick scratch yesterday, but nothing more than you'd normally see with a fox so it's not bothering her.
Woodman, you are right about those sharp edges. That's one of the more peculiar aspects of it. A car exhaust is an interesting idea, or she may have got tar or something similar on her and had it cut away (hence the sharp edge but relatively ragged areas around). That would be something between a shave and a moult in terms of how it looks (which coincides with what Jane says above about it not really looking like shaving).
I guess she isn't going to reveal her secret any time soon, but I'll keep a close watch on her and if I find out anything more I'll post back.

| | | Re: Fox with bald patches It looks to me like an old injury that involved hair loss which is now growing back. It is certainly not mange & she looks in perfect condition apart from this. It certainly looks as if there is new growth there so I wouldn't worry at all & I don't think she needs any treatment.

| | | Re: Fox with bald patches Caroline, I had a feeling you'd have seen this sort of thing before. It looks nice and clean, so I don't anticipate any problems. Just puzzled now by what might have caused it. Thanks! |

| | | Re: Fox with bald patches Could be any number of things, As it is such an old injury it is impossible to say, but probably bite wounds or an injury caused by being clipped by a car.
