| | | Re: What made these tracks? To understand why the footprints seem odd you would need to see the wider area, this is the point im trying to make. The two prints at the tip look like a left and right to me. Remember hind and front prints will be roughly level.
Black-footed ferrets are native to North America so there is very little chance of it being one. Plus these are to big. Also the smaller mustelids like polecats, stoats etc have a different toe structure. As ive said otter prints are distinctive. |

| | | Re: What made these tracks? okay clearing it up quite a bit for me  but is their any chance of a lost pet? as otter tracks don't normally have the type of heel we are looking at or am i completely misguided by google  and thanks for your help aswell |

| | | Re: What made these tracks? then its settled  jus not seen a otter print before  and the ones i found on google dont have such a heel to them but guess their a different heyy  anyways cheers for being helpful and willing to put up with a novice like me  think i may stick to badgers, deer, and the hopeful big cat tracks |

| | | Re: What made these tracks? Trust me not a lost pet, plus if it was a ferret it would'nt look like this. The link you posted is extremely poor, the drawings are not very good and dont reflect most of these species. If you are interested in prints get a good book, there are plenty about. Preben Bang's book is a good beginner book which covers lots of field signs not just prints.
Otter tracks oven show an elongated pad structure especially in the forefoot. |
