She is the only person I have met (so far) to have seen a dormouse in the open in broad daylight like this. I mean, other than on an organised nestbox check, which is how most people get to see a live dormouse.
Having long lived in London, my wife and I moved to rural Somerset in November 2008, and this is probably our most exciting record to date, a great way to round off our first year of living the good life. |

Great photo and sighting.
I've met at least one person who saw a dormouse climbing high in a tree in the day, but I think they're generally pretty strictly nocturnal.
There are quite a few nestbox checking events round the coyntry it's possible to go on, e.g. ones run by the People's Trust for Endangered Species.
