| | | Furry snake ! 8.30 am three days ago,I was driving along a quiet road when I saw a 'snake',moving quickly across the road.As I got nearer I could see that it wasn't a single animal, but 5 or 6 small furry cylinder shaped animals each approx 4 inches long. They were evenly spaced about 2 inches apart and I could see the road through the gap.
They were moving very fast and by the time I drew level they had disappeared into a garden.
(In case it helps; the road has houses with large gardens on one side, and a hedgerow on the other. There is a busy dual carriageway on the far side of the hedge. The general area is arable farmland.)
My husband suggested they might be stoats, but they didn't seem big enough and I thought stoats and weasels were solitary animals.
I am very curious about this and hope someone can shed some light. |

| | | Re: Furry snake ! Very interesting. Perhaps it was a litter of young of some species, could you see that it was fur or hair, and not spines, just thinking a litter of young hedgehogs would look like that. Posie
And Welcome to WAB, I'm sure everyone will come in soon with their ideas. |

| | | Re: Furry snake ! This was probably a litter of young Weasels, possibly being led by their mother, moving to a new denning site.

| | | Re: Furry snake ! Yes I think weasel is the most likely culprit, I believe I have heard of them moving dens in this fashion before.

| | | Re: Furry snake ! I had this 'experience' a few years back - driving on a country lane late at night and for a split second I saw a furry 'loch ness monster' crossing the road in front of me.... and then I realised it was a family of badgers! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
