| | | Advice for my Fallow Deer film Hi everyone,
I am currently in the making of an educational documentary about Fallow deer for my final year University project, and wondered if I could borrow a couple of minutes of your time.
I aim to create a narrative that will appeal to people who have a keen interest in natural history, as well as those who aren't.
I recently had meeting with my Uni lecture and he recommends I make the film a welsh language piece with subtitles. I am from Wales and it is where the film is shot but I feel that this would have no appeal to non-Welsh speakers. Would you watch a film about Fallow deer if it were narrated in Welsh?
Below I have added a link to a short collection of some footage I have so far, put to some music that I think suits the subject. Again, my lecture disagrees so I would love your thoughts if possible.
Any advice or help you can give me on my project would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time. Sophie YouTube - Dinefwr Park. by Sophie Thomas |

| | | Re: Advice for my Fallow Deer film Hi Sophie. You have some good footage. Combined with the music it reminds me of the kind of thing they might show on Autumnwatch. Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, it depends what you are aiming for.
Welsh narration seems like an odd idea. I don't see it as more appropriate because the deer are in Wales, since they are unlikely to understand Welsh any more than they would English. |

| | | Re: Advice for my Fallow Deer film I liked the video, combined with that music, just as it is. But if it is to be for educational purposes, then a narrative would have to be added. Welsh is a beautiful laguage too, and essential if it's to be shown in Welsh schools I would think. You could start with a narrative in whatever language you choose, and then go with the action backed by the music, maybe

| | | Re: Advice for my Fallow Deer film The video is excellent - but the music is not to my taste. I would much prefer natural sounds. As for a voiceover/narration, my preference would be to have two versions (at least!) one in English and one in Welsh. Simpler for all listeners and viewers.
