| | | Red Squirrels, Cumbria 25/10/2009 Such an amazing day, even though the weather was awful myself and the wife spent 2 hours trekking in the wind and rain and eventually came across these beauties!!! We had our hopes up so much of seeing some and going to the places that we had heard had Reds and we were not disappointed.
So happy with the shots I got aswell |

| | | Re: Red Squirrels, Cumbria 25/10/2009 Lovely shots of a equally lovely animal, well worth braving the weather for, sadly in my area (New Forest), the last one faded away years ago, i do remember them when i was young in the 1950's but the grey tree rats took over in no time and end of story.
Thanks for posting what to me is fond memories of a bygone age.
Appreciated

| | | Re: Red Squirrels, Cumbria 25/10/2009 You were lucky to get those super shots! The last reds I saw were in the woods by Thirlmere about six years ago while on holiday near there. We used to get them in my home village when I was young. Our doctor had a pet one in a large run which had lost part of a foot and it was very tame, would take a nut from you. He had rescued it from a trap. It must have lived quite a long life. |

| | | Re: Red Squirrels, Cumbria 25/10/2009 Thank you for all your kind comments, was such a wonderful day one that has made me think alot more about my photography and what I really want to do with it. Also noce to see that they brought back some happy memories for people.
Think I may head back in the dead of winter to see if they are still feeding. |
