| | | Fnk Hello there, we have had a family of Field Mice under the shed for about 20 yrs + they ( it, never see more than one) comes out while we are sitting there, and I regularly leave peanuts and wheat for it /them. They have now moved into the greenhouse and I have heard ripping sounds from where my fleece is stored, I caught one in a bucket using the cardboard tube method, and it is a field mouse, now comes the crunch they have eaten the orange berries of two of my Solanum Capicastrum, I thought these were poisonus to all animals does anyone think that we will see our field mouses again, regards fnk |

Nice to see another new member, I am still finding my way round the site but its very interesting. As to your little mice, well first let me say how nice to find someone who isn't screaming "mice kill it" they are lovely little things, and as for eating your plant, I think instinct tell them what is good for them and what isn't so doubt they would eat it if it would kill them, sometimes they eat just a little bit, either way it will be "Mice" (sorry) to know how they are doing. |

| | | Re: Fnk Hello Gracie, thanks for your reply.I agree with what you say about instinct. I have been gardening all my life and nursery work but have never heard anyone mention this problem I have grown 14 plants of Solanum first time, and if they were for sale at £2-99 which they're not it would be quite a blow for a commercial grower, the little monkeys have ruined 5 of mine. I will have to catch them and put them under the shed where I thought they were living. First I must make greenhouse mouseproof. Cheers Fnk | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
