| | | wildlife rescue centres hi everybody.
some of you may have read my thread about a sick fox coming into my garden. at the time i was desperate to help this creature but wasnt sure of the best way to go about it. many people on this site offered me their expertise, advice and encouragement--for which i am extremely grateful.
however,id like to make special reference to the vale wildlife rescue centre in gloucestershire. the lady there was prepared to do all in her capacity despite not knowing me-and being some 240 miles away! i (and the vixen) are indebted to her.
part of the reason i had to accept her help was because here,in the n.e. of england, there just werent enough specialist rescue centres. of the 3 that there were, 1 has since had to close-down through lack of funding.
these centres do an enormous job in treating our sick and injured wildlife. the people working in them often do so unpaid. they rely solely on donations.
CAN I PLEASE ASK EVERYONE,THROUGH THESE PAGES,TO SEND A SMALL (OR LARGE!) DONATION TO ANY OF THESE RESCUE CENTRES.
i know 'times are hard' but they are especially so for these centres.
i have already sent mine.
we all profess to be keen on wildlife......if these places 'fold'-what then??
thank you

| | | Re: wildlife rescue centres Many thanks dickybird. I am very pleased that we could help & that the fox is now well on the way to a full recovery.
You are right in what you say about rescue centres - there are nowhere near enough people taking in & rehabilitating sick & injured wildlife & we at Vale are always trying to encourage others to start, even on a small scale.
The recession has hit wildlife rehabbers hard &, rather than more people starting up, we know of several centres that have had to close over the past few months because of a lack of funds.
Please, please help out your nearest wildlife rescue so that we don't lose any more much-needed facilities.

| | | Re: wildlife rescue centres its here http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/maps/rescue-centres - that is the more complete version - there is also a list on a thread but that only has about 25% of those on the map.
