| Too true, and they can be a problem. I did hear the other day that our water voles latin name is about to change from Arvicola terrestris, not sure when that comes in though.

Shirl | according to wikipidia the watervole is no Arvicola amphibius. News to me.

tho in restrospect that might well be a woodmouse

| | | Re: Rat or other creature? yep i thought so - thats a big heap of rubble that was on my mums back lawn (while it was taking me two years to build the patio  ) we had both woodmice and bank voles in residence and i photographed both - but i cant find the vole pics in the image library/ Gallery - tho i'm sure i uploaded them at the time

this one on the other hand is a rat (for comparison purposes) he lived in mums compost heap and we nicknamed him gerald - being a lone male we didnt get a population explosion so we left him to his own devices and all was fine
