| | | long eared bat I was at work yesterday and one of the girls who works with me came in and said that there was a bat on the floor in the car park just up the road, so I ran out and rescued it from the gawking eyes of people just stood around, poor thing was shivering and would probably have been trodden on if I hadn't of gone to collect it.
I took it back into work and put it in a box with some paper towels and rang the bat conservation trust (?) and was given a number of a bat carer local to me. They asked me to give it some water which it took really well and then take it to them. He said it had probably been hit by a car, though I couldnt see any injuries I didnt want to just release it without being sure.
Brilliant little creatures and interesting to watch, cant understand how they get the reputation the have. Some people are so nieve!!
Anyway hes at the batmans (lol) house and will hopefully be released soon! |

| | | Re: long eared bat Long eareds are great. In the Summer when the french windows are open, a couple come into the front room and pick off the flies and moths attracted to the lights and UV tube in one of my vivariums. Great slow, controlled flight unlike the frantic flittering of the others you see, they just come in, check the room out, clear it of flying insects, then leave. Occasionally one will take a large fly and hang off the curtains eating it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
