I should add, it looked a lot darker when it was lying in the road. The sun seems to have caught its fur and lightened it for the photo. |

I think it could well be a Polecat/Ferret like this one I saw a few days ago in Herts (apologies for grisly picture).  |

Hi
I'm fairly sure its a polecat, mink is more uniform in colour.
Polecat shold have light patches around the nose and eyes, though adults of both spcs are similar in size tail of pcat is aprox one third longer in proportion to mink.

Yes, it's a polecat. SWT may be interested if it's on their patch -don't know about the Cheshire mob, though. |
