What noises do hedgehogs make?

Before we rescued him he was making a sound like a very distressed cat crying. It was awful. I thought a cat had been trapped in the bushes or was injured.

Poor little man. Any further news as to how he's doing today?

He ate well last night and came back from the vets this afternoon after having another steroid injection. He will have more antibiotics later with his food. He seems to have a good appetite but still very poorly. His chest is very noisy. He may still not survive. One thing for sure, if he does survive, he won't go back into the wild.

Fingers crossed Snuffly makes a full recovery, Pattie. Prognosis is usually good if respiratory infections are treated in time. I currently have a very large male hog (1,250g) with a respiratory infection. He is now on day 3 of a second course of a different antibiotic because the first course of standard a/bs didn’t have any effect. He’s also had anti-inflammatory and steroid injections. To date, the poor guy still sounds like he’s a chronic asthmatic; no respite whatsoever with the very audible wheezing and every now and again when he coughs he gets distressed and squeals - it must be really painful . On a positive note, his appetite is fairly good, which is encouraging.

Why won't he be going back into the wild if he makes a full recovery?

He's with my hedghog expert and she says that he won't make a full recovery. He will be too ill to go back into the wild. I trust her judgement. At the moment he is very sick and may not survive.

Hi Pattie, I still have my fingers crossed for Snuffly, poor little thing. Has he been eating well? At least he's safe, cosy, warm and being loved, everything he could wish for.

He has eaten everything that has been put in front of him. And last time I heard was pooing and weeing for england.
