| | | fallow deer rut hi.
After seeing the red deer rut at ober corner in the new forest. i am intrested in the fallow deer rut also in the new forest, but can't find any info on a good location for this. i do know the rut is in november and i was thinking about looking around bolderwood.
any help would be greatfull. pete. |

| | | Re: fallow deer rut Hi tibbenham. The Fallow rut usually peaks between 17th & 25th october in the Forest. The woods & inclosures around Bolderwood are a good start. Just wander round & listen for the bucks' calls. You'll hear them through most of the woods in the Forest though. Could hear one from Ober on Saturday morning, first one this autumn for me. |

| | | Re: fallow deer rut The Fallow buck's calls are more of a rythmic deep belching (almost like a pigs snort but deeper) which is known as groaning. You'll know it when you hear it. I know several stands, but the best thing to do is park up in one of the car parks & follow your ears. If you're still not having much luck pm me & I'll give more help. |

| | | Re: fallow deer rut Oh before I forget, the Fallow are much more skitish & easily disturbed than the Reds so please remember not to get so close to the does that they scent/see you & bolt, the bucks are going to have enough to contend with without his does doing a runner on him. |
