Am I likely to see Sika deer at Arne?

Hi
Unfortunately the carpark gates do not open until between 8-9am (cant remember exact time but I will check this weekend as we are probably going there on saturday all being well) but there are just a few parking areas on the road edge just prior to the crapark which if you go early will be available.

I usually say under each of my photos if they are taken at Arne and there are also some scenic ones on my zenfolio website to give you an idea of the terrain but you will not be disappointed
If you do a search in the forum for 'sika monkey wrestling' you will also see a photo of how unpredictable the sika can be so although they are not as timid as other species be aware that they are more aggresive and if treated correctly you will be fine but do not take them for granted. They do pose lovely for photographs and you need to take lots of cf cards as you always take loads photos at Arne

Hi Bruce,

Lindas spot on,the only way you wouldnt see them would to walk around with your eyes shut!

To be honest ive only been the once as i live nearer to where they can be found in the Forest but when i did go i was litterally tripping over them!

Not at all. Head for the hide overlooking the harbour and you should trip over them en route.

Bruce, may i suggest you visit Royden nature reserve near Brockenhurst as there is quite a large group of Sikka dear thet frequent the area, other than those in the nature reserve refrigeration room.
