i'm looking for a manual on use of Analook, the anabat data interpretation software. Can anyone help?
In fact in advice on information about to how to analyse bat data gathered with anabat would be much appreciated
I'm trying to teach myself how to use the various bits of equipment that bat ecologist use and how to intepret the data gathered.
Kind regards and thanks in advance for any help.

| | | Re: Anabat, Analook Manuals I too would be very interested in such a manual - for AnalookW in my case.
Good luck André in interpreting the results! I get lots of sonograms that leave me scratching my head - and these are just in my garden!

Some practical demonstrations are what is needed - screenshots would be good!

| | | Re: Anabat, Analook Manuals So nobody know of a good guide on how too interpret sonograms of bat call recordings? By interpreting, I mean identifying the bat species responsible for the call, if there was any doubt.
Best regards. |

| | | Re: Anabat, Analook Manuals Are you looking for a suite of reference sonograms to compare yours to, Andre?
There are several sources out there if you are. The cheapest and chearful one is the FSC Aidgap foldout publication with depictions of all British bat spp. sonograms.
Schober and Grimmmberger have a good reference in their "A Guide to Bats of Britain and Europe"
Jon Russ has a useful publication which I cannot put my hands on at this moment.
There are a couple of US online reference libraries that I use from time to time. http://www.batcalls.org/
and BatCall Library
The BCT forum would be good place to enquire. Bat Conservation Trust Discussion Forum - Login |

| | | Re: Anabat, Analook Manuals As suggested earlier I would recommend Jon Russ 'The Bats of Britain and Ireland: Echolocaiton calls, sound analysis and species identification'. This guide is not designed with Anabat calls in mind but is still very useful, just be cautious when applying call parameters provided. It can be purchased from online shops such as Alana.
A new addition of this guide has been due for release for a good while and is being designed with Anabat soundfiles in mind. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
