| | | Re: How can i view/attract urban foxes? Well there is no guaranteed way of attracting wildlife to your garden. All you can do is make your garden as wildlife friendly as possible and trust to luck.
Food is always the best attractant. So start putting out food at night and make sure there is some easy access to your garden. You can get special fox food, but to be honest foxes are not that fussy. Dog food is probably worth a try.
Of course the local cat populating will no doubt thank you for the free meal, and unless you want to stay up all night to work out what’s been eating your food, it can be a big frustrating working out whats going on.
But we can start a whole thread on ways to monitor whats being going on in your garden! I use a cheap CCTV camera hooked into my PC . In my postage stamp garden on a big housing estate I get hedgehogs ever night plus foxes occasionally and the odd badger (but the last one was trying to eat the hedgehog, so not so keen on those!) Oh and LOTS of cats!
So persevere, it is possible. Good luck |

Im going to put some food out and see what we get.
i was wondering theres this video on youtube that i will attach the link to where a man in the middle of the day in broud daylight is hand feeding a wild urban fox in his garden and cant really figure out why a fox would cvome out in the day, specifically to his garden in the first place? | | | Re: How can i view/attract urban foxes? Hi, the Fox probably came to the man's garden because he is used to him and gets a reward - food. The man probably feeds the Fox regularly and the Fox has got used to his presence over a period of time. You can do the same with Robins. We have a couple that will sit on our hands and take seed. It takes time but worthwhile when they come really close.

| | | Re: How can i view/attract urban foxes? We get foxes about in the daytime in our local park, and nearer wher I live about 1/2 mile away. The last I saw was wandering into the Police station yard. We also get robins and great tits come to the hand for seed. The first time I tried that I didnt really expect it to happen and was ovewhlemed by the feel of those little cold birdie feet.. I got one shot of my friend with a great tit, not a very good quality one I'm afraid The photo not the bird!
Its worth a try you might be lucky |

| | | Re: How can i view/attract urban foxes? I would definitely try putting out dog food. When we lived in London we had a fox come to the garden. I put some food out and a few nights later I sat up to watch. To my surprise I had six foxes fighting over the food at the same time!
I had to stop feeding them soon after. They made a hell of a racket and my wife banned me from putting out any more food.
if you feed them, they will come. It may take a while for them to find it, but they will.

| | | Re: How can i view/attract urban foxes? Food is the lure, but don't overdo it. Small amounts are enough to keep them interested but not dependent. I really wouldn't recommend hand-feeding them though. A reasonably healthy respect for humans is good for them, so I have a 'watch don't touch' rule. |

| | | Re: How can i view/attract urban foxes? Definitely as everyone has suggested - Food, Food & More food - my kids love sitting watching cctv footage of our visitors and lately with the bright evenings have been treated to the full family incl. 2 cubs. A quick trip to the local supermarket for some reduced chicken seems to be our foxes favourite grub.
Re: footage and image capture, a little bit of planning and using the right equipment can provide great results - my favourite capture is attached.
Currently waiting on some new sens-up cameras to come into stock - customs issue slowing the process down - but these can "see" at 0.00002 lux without Infrared which will puts the critters at ease - they are dubious of IR so if using IR try to locate it as a seperate unit away and at an angle from the actual camera. |
