| | Re: Bloody Slug Pellets!! How sad, we have very few hedgehogs here in the far nw of Scotland. I am renovating an old house, very derelict and a garden stuffed full of slugs and snails, but I would no more poison them than I would the pine martens, deer and otters we are lucky enough to see regularly. They may be a pest, but they are also wildlife. |

| | | Re: Bloody Slug Pellets!! I have only scanned through this as it reminded me of a dead cat in the garden when i was young. However CAT (Center for Alternative Technology) also have a small but very good book on the subject of slugs and gardens...
All I can say is NEVER use pellets. (no sad face smiley) |

| | | Re: Bloody Slug Pellets!! I have never liked the use of Slug pellets, and when I was younger I would pick them up and seal them in plastic bags. Then I would put the bag in my crud-closet, to make sure nothing can get to them. Kinda' far to go about it, but its saving the enviroment |

| | | Re: Bloody Slug Pellets!! Has anyone tried out the new 'Organic' slug pellets containing Ferrous phosphate (which does no harm to birds or mammals) rather than metaldehyde?
If effective then it sounds much better for those gardeners who are always going to insist on using something. |

That's all I use and lettuces have been great this year..but then again not seen that many slugs esp given how wet it has been...they do not last that long and beer is probably still a good a method as there is...but just dont like to give my organic beer to slugs | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
