| | | adopt baby grey squirrel Hello,
I would like to have a pet grey squirrel but I dont know where to get it. I heard tht people rescue them and this is actually the only way to get it. But you should be very lucky to happen to see a baby squirrel and to catch it is going to be extremely hard. Anyway i am just looking for someone who might have small grey squirels whom they would like to give away for an adoption.
I am looking fo someone based in London or near by.
Thanks) |

| | | Re: adopt baby grey squirrel I agree, it is totally wrong to keep one in captivity & in fact, you would need a licence to do so.
You should reconsider this inappropriate & unethical idea.

If you are then please pm me - or if you are prepared to look after one until it is ready for release but they needs lots of looking after - they can't just be left alone! |

And a licence is required to release grey squirrels.
If a single youngster is handed over to someone for rearing it would be virtually impossible to rear it without it becoming imprinted & therefore not releasable. I don't think any responsible rehabbers would or should consider this.

The people that release do have a license.
So therefor in your view no animal that has been hand reared should be released?
All wildlife deserves the same chances irrespective of species. |

That's not how wildlife should be treated, in my opinion. |

All wildlife deserves the same chances irrespective of species. | I did not say that no hand-reared animal should be released, but an imprinted animal cannot be released.
Someone who wants to keep one as a pet is unlikely to do everything possible to prevent it imprinting &, as I said previously, single animals cannot be hand-reared without them becoming imprinted.
