| | | Cute little thing, but will she/he be moving in?! Hello all,
Was sitting on my back step enjoying the last of the sunshine when I spotted a little creature rustling about behind my bin. A quick scout on google revealed it to be a field mouse. Not hugely surprised as we live near a big green space, but a little alarmed to find it two feet from my back door!
Should I be worried about getting lots of little visitors?! I am delighted to know that there are cute wee fellas like that nearby, but not thrilled about the prospect of them possibly coming to stay.
Is there anything I can do to deter them from coming too close to the house? Also, I have woodbark down in my old borders on top of black sheeting and have noticed that it has been disturbed recently - is it possible the mouse was trying to nest there? And if it does decide to take up residence either in my garden or house (yikes), could I relocate them?
Thanks

| | | Re: Cute little thing, but will she/he be moving in?! Hello KayDee, and a warm welcome to the forum. I don`t think that you need to worry about it coming into your house, it`s natural habitat is the field, the hedgerow and the garden. I had one outside my door last year and it used to hide under the hedge and then scamper out, grab one of the seeds that I had put out for the birds and scamper back. They are charming little creatures and unlikely to invade your house, unlike their cousin the house mouse. I can`t help you about relocating them as I am not up to date on the law in the U.K. Personally I would leave it be...Bob
