| | | Pine Marten Surveys Hi everyone
I see there has been a fair bit of interest in pine martens on WAB, which is great to see!
I wonder if anyone would be interested in helping The Vincent Wildlife Trust with our pine marten scat surveys this summer?
The surveys simply involve walking transects looking for pine marten scats and collecting anything that could have come from a pine marten. The scats are then sent for DNA testing to confirm which species they have come from. These surveys give us the chance to prove that the elusive pine martens are living in these area. No experience is needed although some knowledge of what different mammal scats look like is helpful.
We are surveying Hamsterley forest, Durham on Saturday 8th August and the North York Moors on Saturday 15th August.
If you have any questions about the surveys, please let me know.
Thanks
