| | | Re: Name of baby otters? Mammals Trust Handbook of Mammals also goes with cubs, so some consistency. I'd stick with cubs, though kits seems right for Beavers and maybe even N. American Sea Otters? As for pups - I wouldn't. |

yes although the original quiery on SW forum was between pups and kits...i ruled out kits which as stated i would use for smaller mustalids...stoats and weasels etc.
But it has always been Cubs for me with otters but SW state is should be pups....i emailed the question but they ran out of time on sw unsprung (red button) so im hoping it may get read next week?
Yes i have a mammal society otter book plus several others which all go woth cubs but if you do some google research many state it as pups...
but its deffo between pups and cubs and not kits....although someone suggested whelps?...which i think i have heard but am not familiar with?
Dan

This was something I considered some time ago and I decided on the basis that the male Otter is a Dog Otter I settled on the young being referred to as Pups. However when I see Pups, Kits or Cubs I have to say I am so excited I could jabber anyhting.
