| | | More Urban Foxes - Playing Video Urban foxes are pretty much the norm these day, well certainly in outer London. There are arguments for and against, and without doubt they can be nuisance, but pretty cute watching them playing in the garden. They live beneath a shed sometimes visible in the video. | | | Re: More Urban Foxes - Playing Video Depending on circumstances, such as anyone sitting in the garden etc, they tend to appear about 9pm ish. There's one that is always first out, then the others once they feel confident.
I'm not sure at what stage they leave Mum, but my guess is they will be off in maybe a couple more weeks. We get them most years, but they are more active this time as we lost our very old dog a few months ago. |

| Excellent video - lovely to see. In answer to your question, the cubs should be pretty much fully weaned by now (about 12 weeks) and more than capable of eating solid food. Having said that, the vixen will often permit them to suckle right up until her milk dries up. The cubs should be hunting for themselves by August and, if they leave the family fold, this usually happens around Christmas time in urban settings (slightly earlier -- October-ish -- in more rural habitats).
Cheers,
Marc. |

| | | Re: More Urban Foxes - ? Mange Mum made an appearance on her own yesterday. She is in a really sorry state, looks like mange or something. Completely bald on her rear half, hardly any fur on her tail. Couldn't get a picture, but doesn't look good. |

Is there not a fox rescue organisation in your area,
if so maybe you could contact them for help and advice,
i believe there is something that can be put in food for the fox to treat this condition,
and some send it free of charge |

Link to website NFWS Fox Rescue and Sarcoptic Mange Information Site-We also supply mange treatment for foxes suffering from Sarcoptic Mange known also as Canine Mange and Fox Mange
It'd be nice if I can do something, thanks for the suggestion.
The only problem will be making sure that it's Mum that gets the treatment rather than the foxcubs. I doubt that it would do the cubs any harm, but its Mum that needs it.
Any suggestions anyone ? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
