| | | Dorset Badger Watching Hi guys,
I'm thinking of visiting this place during my week long holiday in a couple of weeks, and was wondering if anyone else on here had been there and what it was like? Badger Watch Dorset Evenings Badger watching Dorset Photography Trails
I'm hoping to get some nice badger photos, so was wondering about the photography possibilities too.
Thanks all |

| | | Re: Dorset Badger Watching In my experience, badgers will hear the camera shutter and run a mile. Which is why we just take a camcorder now. |

| | | Re: Dorset Badger Watching Thanks for the tip I'm not sure if I'll be shooting through a glass window or not yet, in which case shutter noise shouldn't be a problem, but i'll ring up the centre to check as the last thing I want to do is stop them coming there. They actually recommended bringing a camera, so i've got no idea how used to humans these badgers are! |

| | | Re: Dorset Badger Watching It was brilliant!!
The badgers weren't at all fazed by me taking photos, as we were in a hide with a perspex window, and they were obviously totally used to hide noise.
Can definitely recommend it for anyone who wants photos of badgers in good light, the window wasn't too much of a problem as I stuck the lens right up against it. We also saw rabbits, serotine bats, and a huge number of ghost moths!
Here's some badger pics from the evening |

| | | Re: Dorset Badger Watching Bit late for your hols but I have been and had a great night. There were three of us and we got there an hour early. The owners spotted us and as we were the only ones that night we were taken straight up to the hide at just after 7-00. By 7-15 four badgers were out and about and not fussed by camera noise. We left just before midnight as by then all the badgers seemed to have gone off feeding in the surrounding area.
