| | | A Rescued Pippy Working in the middle of a SSSI, we had a member of the public come in last week with a pipistrelle impaled on a fishing hook, it was sooo sad, the hook was bigger than the bat. He wldn't rest so we put a cuddly elephant into the box and he instantly clung to it.
A budget vet, (after some attitude from the receptionist who insisted we know who wld pay for this fore she wld make appointment, shamefull !!) , removed the hook and we had it back. Bat officer advised me to let the bat go near the lake where it had been caught dangling from the hook in a tree. RSPCA eventually rung by the lady who was releasing it, the bat wouldn't leave the box. It appears he was too comfortable in the elephant's ear and had to be peeled off lol. Happy ending tho as he was last seen swooping on insects as prob very hungry. Here's a little pic taken while he was in box recovering...........

| | | Re: A Rescued Pippy Good news in the end. Last year I was fishing and I seen fluttering on the water. I thought it was a big moth. I got the binos out and to my surprise it was a bat. I waded out to my neck and rescued it. I kept it in my top pocket all day and dried it out. At dusk I released it and it flew away fine. I was cold all day though :-) maybe it would be more accurate if you rephrased it to "some anglers" kayleigh. There are always bad eggs in every group in life. |

That's a great outcome from what could have been a very nasty end for the creature. Well done. |

| | | Re: A Rescued Pippy Np K, I didn't think you would have done. Angling does cause damage to nature, but IMO it's usually the one day a year brigade that are irresponsible. I can't understand who would use a hook in fresh water the same size as a pippy? Obviously someone that doesn't know what they are doing. |
