Ya beat me to it mac! A badger between the electric and pen wires would touch both and no wildlife will put up with that. The pen wire would be covered in hair and there'd be bald badgers all over the place!

The police were very helpful. This is the gamekeepers first year on the job so probably explains why the snares were set in such a way. The police are going to have a word with him about the height of the snares as that was there main concern. They are also going to find out who leases the land for archery and tell them not to put targets up near badger setts in future. Thanks for all the input from those that helped.
