| | | Field Mice Hey All,
This is my first posting, but you guys actually helped me out a couple of weeks back.
Ive a bird feeder in the garden and i spotted a field mouse having a feed at the scraps, thought nothing of it, cute wee guy actually. Then a couple of weeks ago a herd of elephants moved into my loft, of course turning out to be at least 4 field mice.
At the various advices on here, I bought humane traps and caught 4 of the mice living in the loft over the course of a week(1 of which was a crafty fellow and was eventually caught in the garden after a few days of outwitting me, and they say Humans are the most intelligent too..) I released all 4 at the same location about 2-3 miles from my house. There has been no more noise in the loft at all, well apart from the family of sparrows lodging in the eaves.
This morning I look out in the garden and see 3 field mice runnign about by the feeder, now Ive not heard any more noise, and I caught sight of one of them running through my neighbours garden towards a tool shed. I have a couple of questions that perhaps can be answered here?
1. Is it possible that the same mice I have released have come back? Where I released them was into a large field, with a large glen between there and my house.
2. If 1 of these mice is living under/in the neighbourse toolshed, is it possible for the rest to be living in my loft or do these 'packs' stay together, they were all pretty chummy out there.
3. If they are back in the loft, why havent i heard them? (Wishful thinking... is it possible they are feeding in my garden and NOT living with me?)
Ive reset my humane trap and am now going to take them elsewhere if i catch this lot.....

| | | Re: Field Mice As ron says most likely other mice, mice are quite numerous. Its possible you have a nest under the shed and another in the loft, however mice usually live in lofts during the winter, when its warmer they are generally found outside under sheds, in hedges etc. Although this is not always the case. The mice feeding on the birdfood could be nesting around your garden or in nextdoors. |

| | | Re: Field Mice Got my wake up call this morning at 5:30, Elephants in the loft again!
Have setup my humane traps, but im not holding out much hope. I did plug in this cheap sonic repellant, then it seemed to go quiet in the loft. Any ideas which sonic repellants are the best? Ive bought another one out of B&Q for around £18, but ive heard mixed reports regarding these. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
