| | | Holes ? Hi there first post here and I hope you can help me
I have discovered some holes being dug in my garden, we just took out some plants from a small bed ready to grass the area. This morning I discovered two holes. They are probably about 7inches by 4inches but it is tough to tell. They both disappear under the lawn.
I have found no droppings anywhere.
We did have a family of foxes earlier in the year a mother and four cubs.
So any ideas, i did take a couple of pictures but there just holes hehe |

Do the holes go anywhere, or are the dead-ends? Stick your hand down them!! If dead ends, could be just Rabbit scrapings, or fox diggings.
If they go deep, that size sounds like Rabbit holes.
Loads of things possible!

| | | Re: Holes ? Thanks for the welcome Alan and John,
The holes do disappear under the lawn I have poked a long stick down them and they go more than 3feet.
If they are rabbits I am surprised I have never seen one and no droppings either. |

They may be a) very timid and hide at the first sound or movement and b) be doing their droppings elsewhere.
Since the holes sound very much like rabbit holes, I'm wondering about invisible rabbits in nappies!

henrya | Don't you hate it when that happens
A few questions:
Do the walls of the hole consist of fairly crumbly soil, or does it appear to be slimey?
Is there any unusual aroma in them?
Is there a spoil heap or soil dragged out of the hole, or is just a hole with no debris outside?
Any footprints/tracks?
What other mammals are there in your area?
Can we see a pic?
Can you lend me a tenner
Good fun eh |

| | | Re: Holes ? I live in a town, but it is on the edge of Forest and farmland, I have never seen any rabbits around but I am sure there are some.
How can I discourage them from digging where they are? I am qute happy to have rabbits in the garden, but not there hehe. They are right in the middle of where the lawn is going!
Like Harvey ...... Henrya ? |

Maybe, but Harvey was six foot tall - I think he'd make rather bigger holes!

The soil appears to have been dragged out.
Some piccies, I hope they work
thanks again | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
