| | | Badgers? I came across this scene of complete carnage in the woods today, there was wood strewn everywhere, massive holes all over the place...Is this a badgers sett?
My dog tried to get into the holes, hes an Irish Water Spaniel so not small and he could have fit in quite easily, I called him off because I didnt fancy a badger versus dog moment...

Yes it looks to be a well established Sett. If you intend watching it get their an hour before dusk and sit down wind from the Sett and you should get to see some Stripeys.

| | | Re: Badgers? Hi there
Sounds like badgers to me too. Apparently a rule of thumb is that badger setts are broader than they are tall, which may help. Other classic signs are big spoil heaps, discarded bedding and obvious paths.
I agree - go down there one evening and have a look what comes out!

| | | Re: Badgers? oh cool, I will definitely go back to have a look. There were piles of earth all over the place, like a giant mole hill I suppose and clumps of wet earth that looked a bit odd, they looked like they were covered in seeds...
There were at least 8 of these holes covering quite a large area.
Thanks for help |
