| | | Wild boar I was fortunate enough to see a wild boar sow and her "piglets" today very close to my home.Took a few pictures (which will follow if I`ve downloaded correctly ).
It was incredable how close I got, she was so busy rooting around and seemed to be preoccupied searching out earthworms, I kept downwind and the gusty wind masked my footsteps through the undergrowth. At one stage some of the youngsters were within a few feet of the tree I was behind!!. |

| | | Re: Wild boar Excellent. Would love to see these back in the wild. The closest ones to me are in Bridport in Dorset I think. Heres a site on them. www.britishwildboar.org.uk |

| | | Re: Wild boar I think they will only attack humans if they feel their young are in danger.I had this in mind when the piglets came close, I had one eye on mum just incase , they have poor eyesight but excellent smell and hearing, a couple of times she knew I was stalking them and just snorted and they all disappeared into cover, but they were not to difficult to find again.
Just having spoken to a National trust warden, it seems a few escaped from a farm following the storm of 87, and have been increasing in numbers and range ever since.I welcome there return to the wild but lots of farmers are against them because of the damage they do whilst foraging. |

| | | Re: Wild boar We had few turn up on the Somerset Levels this year, 6 piglets and a adult male and pregnant female adult, turned up on private land, when they started wandering around, they were rounded up and dissapeared and no one knew anything........seems like someone was trying to test the water about re-introducing them.
Apparently know one anything even EN who own 99% of the Land in the area, but when word got out I had pictures of them, EN rang me at work asking me not to tell anyone about it! very suspect!
If you look on the Wild Boar website Wild Boar in Britain there are some pictures of them (not mine) from the Levels.
