| | | Daytime Bat! Hi everyone, just thought I`d tell you about an amazing experience we had yesterday. We were walking along the river Severn at Arley when we noticed someting flying it turned out to be this bat I didn`t even knew that they flew in the daytime! I whized around with my camera & managed a couple of half decent shots. I think it`s a Noctule Bat. He was big Made our day

| | | Re: Daytime Bat! I had one last year that came out hunting along our river in bright sunny weather for several days. The best thing about it was that you could clearly see how agile they were and actually watch it catching insects in mid-air.

| | | Re: Daytime Bat! Lovely bat!
I saw one on saturday too at 1.20pm in full sunshine, not near trees or anything, just whizzing around.
Mine was quite small and flitterred around like a crazy wren.
Any idea about other types of bats that fly in the day and at this time of year?

| | | Re: Daytime Bat! I fleetingly saw what I'm sure was a bat the other day in bright sunlight, but it was quite big, so I just assumed it was a Daubuton's, although nowhere near water. I didn't know other bats ever came out in daylight.
