| | | First fox cub of 2009 Today, our first fox cub of the year was brought in, apparently abandoned. He is only a tiny little thing, around 2 weeks old. Coincidentally, the hunt had been in the area recently. Now obviously the two may be completely unconnected, but maybe not? There will undoubtedly be more cubs from this litter somewhere and they will not survive for long without care.
A couple of days ago, the hunt were out locally to us, all over the main road, they had blocked a side road with their cars so that nobody could turn up it, and the hounds were obviously on to something in the hedge right next to the main road. I am sure that they would say that there was no fox, but it was obvious that there was one there.
Despite the ban, hunting continues as usual and the thought of pregnant and nursing vixens being chased and caught, is absolutely terrible.
The killing of foxes, whether by shooting or by illegal hunting should be stopped from January to prevent the unnecessary suffering of unborn and dependant cubs.

| | | Re: First fox cub of 2009 Does that include all the orphaned rabbit kits thats left to starve when the milky doe is taken by the fox and no doubt other mammals and rare/endangered ground nesting birds. This is not ment to be a pro hunting statement. Just does anyone tend to think about the suffering a fox can leave as other wild creatures as they enter their breeding season.
Regards
Colin

The hunting f animals by Man is not.

But unless a fox is causing a serious proven problem to sensitive wildlife, or live stock it should be left in its breeding season. I my self have no problem with fox hunting at other times, though its not for me.

If these people really want to do fox hunting then let them do it on foot with out a pack of dogs!! See who wins the chase then!!

Animals don’t possess moral consciences as we humans have evolved to do. They kill to survive. They don't have the option to choose when to kill. Nature, red in tooth and claw.
Thank goodness the poor little mite has a good chance of survival in your loving care. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
