Who eats snails in a log pile?

Was moving a shed today, and opened up the bottom of a 9 month old log pile. Interesting, there must of been about 10 snail shells, all broken as if something had eaten them.
I'm thinking a hedgehog, but I've never seen one in the garden.

Any suggestions?

Doesn't mean there hasn't been one...even if your garden is fenced...they are darned good climbers.If the shells were crushed it sounds like the most likely candidate.

Likely to have been a wood mouse they often eat snails.
