I agree, not enough data really but very encouraging news anyway. Our water voles are just so busy at the moment, saw 6 and a water shrew this afternoon, 7 water voles on Monday and a friend of mine saw 13 water voles last Friday. Isn't it just brilliant. I can't get down to the canal often enough.

I agree as well, the data can be misleading. If it's just more surveys then it just means that previously unmonitored groups have now been surveyed. It doesn't prove that the numbers have increased at all. But hopefully over all they have.

Increased awareness has to be good, though.
I've noticed lots more videos of water voles appearing on YouTube.  |
