I have been to Chanonry Point many times, the last time being when Simon King and BBC Springwatch team were there last year.
Unfortunately I saw no BNDs that day but have been successful on most visits. When I say success, I mean sightings rather than photos. The latter have always been unsuccessful so it was very pleasing to see your images.
With regard to threats to the Moray Firth, I read recently that there is still a risk of oil exploration/drilling which I guess would be a much more serious threat than residential development.

Cromarty (as made famous by world radio weather reports) on the Black Isle is a centre for the oil industry. I think they repair the rigs there and do not seem to affect the Dolphins, however I have also heard there is a threat of further disturbance from the industry in the form of drilling.
I also understand that the Dolphins of Moray Firth (individuals are known) are increasingly being seen on the East Coast, often further South than Aberdeen. I wonder if that is natural exploration, disturbance or climate change.
