Sorry BUT I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!! rant over Thank you for listening.

| | | Re: Rats!!!! I think in a house you have no option but to trap and to use poison I certainly wouldn't want one in my house..
they tend to come inside in winter for warmth..
Good luck let us know how you get on..

| | | Re: Rats!!!! Had a similar problem with mice last year, but luckily found the hole where they were coming in, and blocked it up. Still got poison and a trap up in the loft just in case, but haven't had any problems since.
If you can find the point of entry, block it off (unless its an air-brick, then place a grille over it).
Best of luck....

| | | Re: Rats!!!! Thanks Kayleigh i will ...Tuna in one trap, Chocolate in the other and bird fat pellets in the third. if I was a rat now which one I'd go for We wait and see. It advices to leave for 48 hours as they hate disturbance and may not search out traps.

| | | Re: Rats!!!! Sorry to be a bit of a kill joy but if you have poisoned them try and locate the body as soon as possible. Generally they will return to their nest to die and if that is hidden in your house be prepared for the worst smell in the world. I have managed many Rat exterminations in retail units and have had to go on to take up floors and break open walls to find a decaying carcase.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it either died outside or you found the dead Rattus Norvegicus.

Roy | Thanks Kamo hence the THREE holes in NEW ceiling, Tim as blocked hole into rest of house but can't reach hole it is getting in as it is in an area we can't reach but traps all positioned so that we can reach and it can only die in kitchen loft no bed there so hopefully it will leave to die, or another HOLe in NEW ceiling I guess

| | | Re: Rats!!!! They do love chocolate. I found melted caramel, like that found in Mars bars worked well too. It's not so easy for them to pick it up and run off with, they seem to stay and lick it all off. |
