| | | Re: Swimming furry beast hmmmmm, I know its hard to tell due to the lack of things in the pic that could be used for scale, but it looks proportionally a little small for a water vole, could it have been a bank vole? How large was it? |

Our estimate is that the beast was at least 6 inches long and that, based on the evidence provided, would seem to rule out the bank vole.
I have reported the find to the local mammal society, as suggested, and asked them for details of anyone else needing to know.
