We have a resident Red Stag in the Rising sun country park in Wallsend, I know it sounds hard to believe but he has been there now for 3 years. If you google Red deer in Rising sun country park you will see pictures of him. I found 1 of his cast antlers last year & both this year, he is an imperial with 14 tines. Fallow are resident in some parts of Nortumberland I have seen them at Harwood Forest & Thrunton. The Muntjac in the North East are here only due too stupid individuals releasing them, I have just returned from Norfolk & the place is overrun with these alien invaders, we really don't want these horrid creatures here. It is bad enough having the Greys & Signals without adding another pest to the list. The problem with Munties as mentioned in another message they breed like rabbits & things tend to get out of control when this senario happens. | Hi there Cragmill, I wish those Red's the best of luck in breeding and establishing themselves, as our county will be a richer place with the native wildlife restored.
I wholehartedly agree with your comments about the muntjac, they are not going to do our land any favours, but like ive said before, like it or not, its happening, so we better be prepared.
all the best
