Sorry these arnt great photos but the seals where digiscoped from about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile away! They were resting on the mud in the Swale (Kent) at low tide. Are they common seals? ANd does anyone know why they are reddy brown? Is it just from the ud or something else?

Head shape looks like Common Seal to me.

Yes its a common seal, you can tell by the head shape and muzzle shape and size. They can occur this colour when their fur has dried out like this one.
