Unless Heron feed at night which they dont can't see it.I have had a suggestion it could be an otter?but after trapping one Mink i honestly dont know i think it could be it's mate.(or young) how long the young stay with the adults i dont know unless it was late autum young.As i said the traps are set, just got to wait it out now. |

| | | Re: mink and koi carp I think the young would of dispersed by now and the adults will be solitary, however if the area is not a territory you will get several young moving through it. Young are born between April and May. They only have one litter per year they are weaned after about 5 weeks they disperse at about 14 weeks. So its ulikely to be a group, however sometimes male and female territories overlap. It is possible its an otter, but as you say since you've caught one mink I would have thought it would be another they tend to avoid areas with otters. |

| | Re: mink and koi carp Hi everyone who has posted their thoughts on the problem of mink.Just an update i have cought its mate mate after all this time of setting the traps.
but one good thing about this is it may be an empty pond of koi but a almost full pond of Toad and Frog spawn plus i have seen newts and their eggs on the pond weed so some good comes with the bad. happy days |
