| | | under my shed Well I have now confirmed that there is a Hedgehog living under my shed. It has been walking around the lawn at night eating things on the ground. Today it was out in full march at 11:30am on the lawn. Are they meant to come out in the day?? I put out a tiny but of cat food and it literally looked up and came walking over. I left it to eat the food and watched from the conservatory. I was quite delighted to find one in my garden as I thought it had just been visiting in the past. Our shed is a typical old looking thing with about a 6-7 inch gap at floor level. It just pops in and out every so often and has a look what is going on. Should there be others or could it be single??
I took a photo so will try and add it on. |

| | | Re: under my shed Our rescued hedgepig made a home under our old shed, however, while my fella was moving the shed bit by bit to the end of the garden, the dog ran off with his nicely made grass nest, (didn't know they made them til then ), and ate it
The hog moved into next door but he's back now after a year Glad you had the chance to see it, they're lovely. Only thing I would be concerned about is if he's out during the day he might be a little hungry. Ours doesn't know the difference cos he's blind.

| | | Re: under my shed Well at least if it has a good appetite, I don't think it can be sick I wonder if it is trying to pile on the ounces before hibernation.

| | | Re: under my shed Hedgehogs seen out in daytime are usually in trouble. There are exceptions, but as a rule they're either poorly or starving. At this time of year they need to build up fat reserves in preparation for hibernation. It sounds like your one is starving. What size is he Cheshire, in comparison to a man's closed fist? |

| | | Re: under my shed Hmmm, don't know whether it's the perspective of the photograph but it looks a teeny bit small ? Best making sure the lovely creature has lots of cat food and fresh water around for a while due to cold snap eh ? Bless !!

Reason: overly emotional outburst at end needed

Very friendly it is | You could maybe leave some straw and dry paper under the shed in case he does live there, may help keep him warm over next few days.
