I go fishing off the rocks near my home on the Lleyn Peninsula quite regularly and its no exageration to say that I see Dolphins virtually everytime . Sometimes they are out at sea abit but quite often they are as close as fifty yards.
I went fishing last Thursday and between fifteen and twenty gave me a fabulous aerial display for nearly thirty minutes.
I see them even in the wintertime . Last winter I was ferreting on the cliff tops with my son and looked out to sea and saw three crossing the bay . I mentioned this to the farmer on my return to the vehicle and he was not suprised at all , he said that he had virtually been able to set his watch by the appearance of these three for the last few months.
If any one wants to watch dolphins from the shore then the Nefyn side of the Lleyn is the spot for you.
The Pwllheli side also has visitations and I remember seeing them from the jetty at Criccieth a few years ago.
The displays that I've seen whilst fishing have been breath taking !
