Good Afternoon

I am new to this forum.

I am from the island of islay on the west coast of scotland.

I am just wondering how long are the red deer stags in the rut for?

I believe the rut season is late Sept to November, have a look at the british deer website bds.org.uk or treesforlife.org.uk for lots of deer info.

Hello Elliott and welcome.
I absolutely love Islay, having spent many a happy holiday there, usually at Bunnahabhain cottages, at the distillery, next one past Caol Isla.
I'm jealous of you - you have the perfect scottish wildlife Island there.
One of my exhibits where I work is a red deer antler from Islay -

but otherwise, dont know the answer, just wanted to say hi!

For the last 2 or 3 episodes of Autumnwatch (BBC 2), they have included Red Deer rutting.
Hopefuly this year they will include them again, as it was full of lots of good information.

Nice one Duncan, yeah, 8 including Port Ellen -was that the strongest tasting?
Its up there with the 'old' Ardbeg and Laphroaig in my view!
Whats your favourite?
If you like wildlife and good living you must go, partic at Feis Eile.
