| | | Re: Red Deer Rut I don't know really: we have a large bachelor herd of deer that I often see, and they still all seem to be at peace with one another. Though there is definetely a dominant one... he's huge!

| | | Re: Red Deer Rut Based on 'breakout' date - when stags join the hinds - at Richmond Park last year's "began" 16th September; this year one precocious stag was with a female group 28th August, but really September week 3 was the norm. It all depends when you date the rut start from - shedding velvet, first bellow or first female on heat... I prefer the first because it's literally "when the gloves come off" but it isn't the general view! Quote:

So they may be long gone. The rest carry on feeding up until the females start coming on heat when of course everything with antlers wants a go. Which is why some people say that's the time it starts.

I live in Malvern a few miles away we have the Eastnor estate backing on to the Malvern Hills there are a reasonable amount of Red Deer there. I have been over a few times in the last couple of weeks.

| | Re: Red Deer Rut Hi Guys & Gals
Bradgate Park was great plenty of bellowing and movement . Sunrise was great with nice accomodating mist and mild frost on ground as well. There was plenty of atmosphere.
