| | | Any good Deer spot around Herts/Beds/Bucks? My Girlfriend and I live within a reasonable drive of Ashridge and love nothing more than getting up early at the weekend to see if we can spot any of the lovely Deer there.
We would like to start exploring other local Deer spots. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Josh |

I often see small herds around North Herts, but the only really large herd I've seen was of 75+ fallow deer last December in the fields to the North of Kelshall/Therfield which is 2 miles SW of Royston. There are certainly plenty still around that area (saw 9 last week) and there are some good viewpoints from the hills around. |

I do a lot of walking in the three counties you mention (I live close to where the three counties meet). Although I've seen deer in many different places, I'm afraid I can't think of anywhere that rivals Ashridge for seeing wild deer.
Have you explored all of Ashridge and the neighbouring Berkhamsted and Northchurch Common? They cover quite a large area. The path along the southern-most edge of Northchurch Common (near Northchurch House to Norcott Hill) is a good spot to see deer.
