| | Posted new pic, can't see it? Hi,
I hope someone can help? I took a photo of an Otter last week and am really proud of it (being a total novice at photography!) and wanted to share it on here.
I uploaded it this morning (about 9sih) but I can't see it anywhere? Does it have to be vetted first? If so, how do you know when it is available?
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place!

Welcome to Wild About Britain. We set try to get images moderated and published on the site within 24 hours, possibly longer if it needs an ID and keywords added, but it's usually less, depending on how busy we are.
I'll take a look in the Gallery and see if we can put up in the next few minutes.

Just one thing I noticed, we don't usually include pics of captive animals. It's one of the rules/guidelines that we can bend a bit, as long as the animal isn't behind bars or in an obviously artificial (metal and concrete) environment etc, but otherwise it's a great photo.
Thanks

| | | Re: My otter pic Hi Kirsten, firstly a warm welcome to WAB from me. I think your Otter photo is extremely good. You say you are a total novice at photography, well if that's a novice's attempt I look forward to seeing anything you might post when you have some experience. By the way you will find plenty of people on here willing to give advice on any aspect of photography.
Enjoy the site and I look forward to seeing more from you

| | | Re: Posted new pic, can't see it? Faster than a gazelle on rollerblades, Gill Catton has just PM'ed me to say that it may be an asian short clawed otter and unfortunately not the european type that are found in the wild in the UK. In which case it'll need to go into the 'Foreign Nationals' Gallery.
Sorry Kirsten, but that's one of the reasons why we don't usually include captive animals in the Gallery - because they can often be foreign imports in disguise It's still a great pic though

Roger | Hi Olliem thanks! Yes, I'm a total novice! I bought a Casio QVR61 camera just over a year ago as it seemed like a good deal. I have hardly used it, but took it with me on hols a few weeks ago and thought the Otters were beatiful so took quite a few shots. I zoomed in and used the macro focus as I believe that's the best to use for close up shots? I have a few more so will post them on here tonight when I get home from work
This is a great web site - I love looking at people's photos! Inspires me to learn and to take lots more!

Stu | OK, sorry... I didn't know what sort of breed it was. I wont post anymore pics of them, I'll make sure I stick to wild animals now | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
