This is on a piece of wood broken off from the tree root of a veteran oak in Richmond Park. And a bizarre souvenir of an evening otherwise given over to watching the fallow bucks disporting themselves in the mist and moonlight to the backing track of "A wim-a-way" and other such being blasted out from from Kingston University or the Royal Ballet School. Or the workmen setting up the park for an invasion of lycra louts today sponsored by "Drench" - a bizarre name for a drink - in my world that's how you treat animals with husk. Mercifully the volume went down at 10p.m. and the scene became more ethereal as the pale shapes slipped in and out of the moonlight. Sadly unlike the backing track utterly impossible to record...
