pet mouse?

i've still got a mouse that my cat had brought in a
couple of weeks ago,we did manage to catch it with
a mouse trap(safe)and put it in a boxand was going to
release it next day,I had put some food and water in the box
and shredded paper,it ended up making a nest and was settling in fine
then my brother opened the box next day and couldnt see it
so he touched the nest and it had been fast asleepso
it jumped up in the air onto couch and floor.Has
been living in cupboard in my room,I have put its box there
and its got free roam of the room.I dont think Im doing the right thing
by feeding it,as it wont go into the trap now.Would the mouse be
ok to let loose outside?cos I've had it for 2 weeks?.

i find its hard trying to catch the mouse,its now got a den of sorts in my mums wardrobe.ive got 2 traps (humane ones) but its taken the food out of the traps and sometimes sets the trap off without bein caught?i mean ive got 2 cats but that wee mouse has so far evaded them.i really want to get the mouse were it belongs.oh! and wee mousey jumps about when i try to catch it.has anyone any ideas?

You could try a net when its jumping..
Looks like its making a nest have you only got the one or soon there will hundreds

they like chocolate raisins too! good luck with catching it, I agree that if you don't catch it now you could end up with loads

They can be quite canny. My Dad baited traps with oatmeal, he ended up with a theory that some blew it off then ate it, others sucked it off and ate it. He was not very cross with them.
