| | | ID and advise needed on mouse My daughter rescued a mouse from her cat.She lives near fields so I am not sure of which kind it is.She has just sent me a picture she took with her phone. She thinks it is only a baby and is worried that if she puts it out it will not find mum and the cat might get it again. She could put in in a hedgerow by a field near where she lives but she thinks it has hurt its leg.She wants to help it and needs to know what she can do and what to feed it on.At the moment she has used a dropper and given it milk.Of course the grand children are very young and want to keep it as a pet but I advised against it and told her I would ask your advise on here.Obviously she doesnt want to let it go until it is fit and well so any advise will be thankfully received

| | | Re: ID and advise needed on mouse Looks like a Woodmouse Cherrybee. Its hard to tell from the angle of the pic, but it doesnt look too far off adult size.
Not sure what to advise re rehabilitating it, if your daughter thinks its necessary, but i`m sure others will offer suggestions

| | | Re: ID and advise needed on mouse Hard to say exactly from the photo as wood and House Mice are very similar as juveniles, As Mark says it looks mature i would of thought it will be weaned at this size try feeding it something such as sweetcorn or fruit, grains/cereal etc, See if it eats. As for the poorly leg im not sure what to suggest it would depend on the severity of the injury.
